I have always been fascinated with the way light ripples, moves, changes, creating shapes and patterns. It often reminds me of being underwater.
A lot of what I want to capture in this “newsletter” (though I don’t know if I consider Pearl Onion to be a ~newsletter~) is quite small, really.
I love observing moments that might otherwise pass you by, whether it be through writing, food, photography, doodling, etc.
I asked to participate in Substack’s “Video Beta” and they said yes! So today I’m sharing a video I made a while ago, reflecting on the time I spent at home in 2020 during quarantine. I call it “Quarantine Dreams.” It has clips from both 2019 and 2020 and was made after moving back to CA after spending a spring in the South.
I’ve watched it a million times so it doesn’t necessarily feel like something new or exciting, but makes me feel warm and nostalgic, and captures some of the smaller moments and feelings I love about home. I also figured it’s a good way to test out what Substack has to offer in terms of video.
